Education and Going forward

Last year, I looked into a certificate program through Fuller Theological. The generosity of my home church pastor and friends gave references. I got into the acceptance part when we talked about financial and credit requirements per month that I realized the required time was more than I had at the moment.

Two classes a quarter were required. With a 40-hour a week day job and active ministries, plus raising support, that wasn’t feasible (unless I wanted to give up time with my husband). I am still looking at getting certificates in the future when I am mostly fully supported and part time or gone from the day job.

Until then, I am turning to my approved education plan which is developmental leadership courses through Western Seminary. Nothing with official transcripts, but an education that is for my own growth as a leader. The lessons are video with a quiz. You do get a certificate of completion. It is affordable, but even with the short videos and quiz, it’s been hard to keep it up.

Pray for me as I balance everything and still grow in relevance and leadership.

Thank you, friends!

What If Isn’t Wolves, But Cute Doggies?

But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it. Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?… From Here

When people quote the above verse, a picture of some ravenous wolf with teeth bared accompanies it. What if wolves in sheep’s clothing don’t look like wolves at all, but well-intentioned cute doggies that gently mislead?

You’d be surprised to learn how Satan can use good things, pleasant things and people, to lead us away from a relationship with the Lord (2 Cor. 11:14). This is why learning about Jesus in the Bible is so important.

Base your faith on the authoritative Word, not what popular people in culture and religions say. Religions and cultures change. God doesn’t change.

How to Have Quality Time With God

VRU2C8T6L1

Aside from the fact that what I posted online was bordering on a vent, that thought soon attached itself to another thought: What does quality time with God look like?

Is it opening my Bible on the hour of six a.m. every morning, reading a few lines of scripture, saying some prayers, and going on with the day? What does it matter if you spend seven days every morning reading the Bible or three, if seven days becomes a rut where you forget what God was teaching you in those moments?

People feel shamed and humbled when they encounter one of those deep prayer warriors. They are wonderful people whose seven day a week prayers are truly the quiet, deep waters of thought that we all seek. They are different than most people. They make you want to be different.

So rather than stress over not delving into the Bible seven days a week like them, why not just spend a deep hour studying the Word on your schedule? With your phone Bible app, you can snack on the Bible verses throughout the day.

It’s about quality, not quantity.
